2016 Heat 3 - Six Sins till Sunday declared winner of heat 3.
Congratulations to Six Sins till Sunday who took the spoils and have a place in the Party in the Park finale on the 6th August.
Heat 3 rattled the foundations of the Charter Hall, we said it would be loud! Another fantastic round of this year's Battle of the Bands brought the heats to a close, six awesome bands pulling out the stops to show us what they can do.
So opening the show tonight was Io-Solstice and there couldn't be a better opener. Tight guitar work, great songwriting, soaring vocals and a unique sound.
Second up, and their second stab at the competition, the almighty Lomi. These guys are the grunge masters. Solid as ever, popular as ever, a fantastic set.
Third to take the Battle of The Bands stage was BlackHeart Bedlam. With a fresh punk sound, catchy songs and confident interaction these guys are crowd pleasers. Impressive.
Raining Globe took the stage and to be fair owned it. Some of the best songwriting we've experienced in this year's competition with a delivery near perfect. These guys will go places. Brilliant.
Fifth on stage were Cosmic Love Gods. They now hold the record for the most songs in the strict 20 minute slot. They got 7. And only needed 15 minutes 48 seconds. Catchy, well written, fast proper punk, great set.
Our final band and HEAT THREE WINNER was Six Sins till Sunday! This is how you take a stage. By the scruff of the neck. Heavy (very), melodic and fronted by a showman at the top of his game. And lovely blokes. Well done!
So that rounds off the heats for 2016, huge thanks to ALL the bands that came out and played for us and put on an epic Battle of the Bands. We've got our three heat winners: EJK, Rising Tide and Six Sins till Sunday who have all got a place in the grand finale at The Party in the Park on the 6th August. There are still two wild card slots up for grabs so keep an eye out of the web-site and our social pages for who will be joining them.
And thanks to everyone that came out to watch the heats and put some money in the bucket or bought a shirt, without your support we wouldn't be able to put these events on.
Also massive thanks have to go to a sponsors and supporters: The Plymouth Inn, Okehampton Glass, Steven's Estate Agents, Okehampton Town Council, Okehampton United Charities, West Devon Borough Council and Councillor Kevin Ball, Chagstock and Okehampton Round Table. Again without their support these events could not happen.
