2016 Heat 2 - Rising Tide earn a place in the final.
Congratulations go to Rising Tide, winner of Heat 2 earning themselves a place in the Party in the Park finale on the 6th August.
Tonights heat had a real eclectic mix of bands, from an acoustic duo all the way to extreme metal. Very entertaining but it gave our judges a really hard time!
First to take the stage at Okehampton Battle of the Bands Heat Two was The Fixties with their very cool but firm 'Van Morrisonesque' sound and fantastic vocals. A great band to open the night.
Second up was MandysteveMusic with awesome vocals and solid songwriting, a faultless set. Professional to a T.
Third, and HEAT TWO WINNER was Rising Tide. Classic hard rock performed at its best. They mastered the stage with a cutting edge crunch, soaring guitar harmonies and the tightest of rhythm sections behind a confident, talented front man. A definite crowd pleaser for the final.
Fourth tonight and cranking things up was the mighty Black Water. Seriously good original prog rock with thundering bass lines and roof-raising vocals. Another solid, professional performance.
Fifth up was Wise Intentions. Definitely one to watch. Some outstanding original material, a great image and professionally performed. These guys will go places.
We do like it at BOTB headquarters when we have a band perform that turns it up to eleven. Dulluhan were that band. Amazing frontman, screaming solos, roller coaster riffs and heart stopping drums. A perfect end to another perfect day...
Another massive thanks to all the bands that came along and played their hearts out, they put on a great show for us once again. And thanks to everyone that made the effort to come out and see them.
Lets see who will be joining EJK and Rising Tide in the final, Heat 3 Thursday 7th July at 7pm in The Charter Hall. See you there!
