BOTB 2014 - LGM One win the first heat.
A hot and sweaty Charter Hall kick started the tenth Okehampton Battle of the Bands. Although one band down and down to five bands, those five bands certainly pulled out all the stops to put on a fantastic show for us.
The judges had a hard time with this one, it was a really difficult call, however a winner was selected. Big congratulations to LGM One who have won a place in the Party in the Park final on the 2nd of August.
Starting the show, all the way from Portreath, Pirate Copy hit the stage, sharing their ill gotten booty with the crowd. Loads of fun, full of energy and plenty of audience participation.
Back for a third try, LGM One from Plymouth were next on the stage performing their blend of indie & punk. Lots of energy and atmosphere.
The Lion, hailing from the Somerset/Devon border, pulled a bit of surprise tonight, producing a massive sound from just a guitar and drums. These guys certainly roared!
Exeter based Concrete Donkey knocked it up a notch with their prog infused metal. A confident, dynamic set that showed how well they worked as a unit.
The final band of the night were Faustus MD, the first of this year's Okehampton bands. They managed to fill the stage with themselves and their drums. An energetic and well executed set that climaxed with the taiko drums taking centre stage, hard to believe it was their first ever gig.
So LGM One have earned a place in the final, come and find out who will be joining them from Heat 2 on Wednesday the 2nd July, 7pm, at The Chater Hall.
