Okehampton BotB awarded a grant from the Waitrose

Okehampton BotB awarded a grant from the Waitrose "Music Matters" award.

Okehampton Battle of the Bands were really fortunate to be awarded a grant from the Waitrose "Music Matters" scheme and at BotB Heat One Andrea Bolt and Teresa Edwards from Waitrose presented BotB with a cheque for £1000.

The Waitrose "Music Matters" scheme was introduced in 2011 and has proved to be an instant success with local communities. Waitrose recognise that music is an important feature of lifein every community and provides great opportunities to enhance peoples lives, however they also know that musical events are often not self financing and so the award of small grants can have a big impact.

Waitrose Okehampton invited BotB to submit an application to the "Music Matters" scheme for consideration and we were lucky enough to be awarded with a donation.

BotB are very grateful to Andrea and Teresa for supporting our application. Okehampton BotB is organised and managed on a voluntary basis with all funding and prize gained through grants, sponsership, advertising and donations. Each year the event costs well over £10k to put on so as Waitrose have said "the award of small grants can have a big impact".
