BotB 2012 - Badland Bandits win heat 3
What another fantastic heat we've just seen. Different mix of sounds and styles from all 5 bands, they put on a magnificent show for us and gave the judges a really tough time.
All three heats have been amazing difficult to judge as the standard of the entries this year was higher than has ever been seen. Testament to this is the Wildcard placement with the Judges actually having to award not one but two!
First Band of the night were The Badland Bandits. The Plymouth based bad boys took us back to the sleazy heyday of 80's metal reminiscent of Motley Crew and GnR (before Axle threw a hissy fit!) These guys packed a serious punch and gave the final BotB Heat a serious kickstart.
Next up was Sam Dowden, a complete change of style from the last band. He enthralled the crowd with natural ease and accomplished musicianship (check out the Supersition cover on his profile page).
Bringing the sound levels back up were Crediton based Far From The Delta. They describe themselves as blues played with a rock twist and delivered a raw and gravely grunge blues sound. Front man J is an accomplished performer and the stage is clearly a second home.
40% Proof were the penultimate act and they rocked the crowd performing covers of well rehearsed rock anthems.
The last band of 2012 were Plymouth based LGM One. Another of the new wave Plymouth based indie rock acts offering up a unique sound and with a front man alternating between guitar and keyboards.
Winning Heat Three and joining Dirty Dusk and The Aurora Skies at the Party in the Park final in Simmons Park on August the 11th are those naughty boys, The Badland Bandits.
And then the wild card(s)...
So congratulations to Sam Dowden and Pirate Copy who will also be playing at the Party in the Park Final as the wild card entries.
